hi im almost ready to purchase my new rig and through a lot of opinions i have decided that the geil ram sounded the best but now i am concerned with the amount of problems everyone are having with them. i am purchasing the

GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit

is it worth changing my choice even though they have had so many good reviews baring mind i am ordering my new rig early january?

had the geil 1gb kit ,but 1 stick was faulty . rma to overclockers sorted in two days[exellent service] ,now runs sweet as a nut

Got my Geil yesterday and had it overclocked to 940mhz with no problem. Seems to be good ram so far - had to slacken the timings to get it there though.

As I understand it many who have had problems are due to the Geil using Eplida chips not Micron , and some boards don't like these chips.

The Micron D9 chips are being heralded as great little wafers and this is why you can buy non-Micron chips cheaper.

I chose to stay away from Giel, others are running them fine, the choice is yours, if money is no object there are better chips out there, if your looking for value for money with potential clocking Giel seem to be a good choice.

Personally I went for Team PC6400 3-3-3-8 , for me money was no object, getting the best was! :D

My kit's running at 900mhz 4-4-4-12 @2.1v. No problems at all.

Although there are ppl complaining about theirs, I'm quite sure that if you were to poll all the Geil users, the vast majority would claim to be more than happy with it (especially those of us that were first to jump on the wagon).

I would wait and see. The current batch seem to be generating more issues and lower overclocks than the first couple of batches. I also believe there is an issue with inexperienced overclockers expecting to put these things in a PC and they'll overclock all by themselves. They won't.

And I think there will be big changes to prices and products for January.

Huge amounts of computer kit is bought at Christmas so the best bargains tend to be had in January and July.
