Connect both ATX12V?

My X399 Aorus has two ATX12 connectors, a 4 pin and an 8 pin. Do I need to connect both of these? My PSU only has an 8 pin (2x4 pin) connector.

Do both of these need to be connected or are they different standards for the same thing. The manual does not make it clear.

Thanks.

I believe that AMD specify that both should be used (some boards have a pair of 8 pin sockets) and every review I just checked had them both plugged in. Tweaktown even recommended that both should be used. Your EVGA G2 750w should have a pair of 4+4 pin cpu leads.

Will it run with just the 4+4 EPS only? I know the manual for the asus prime stated that the second 4 pin was optional, but the gigabyte manual doesn't state anything on this. (My TX650V2 only has one EPS connector)

Edit: Seems according to the adoredTV review, the 8 pin alone should be ok, at least running the cpu at stock.
