Connect3D ATI Radeon X1800 XT 256MB

Hi there

At 1024x768 resolution and lower the 256MB card is slightly quicker....

As 1280x1024 resolution the 512MB versions can be upto approx 5fps quicker in games.

At resolutions 1600x1200 and higher the 512MB version can be approx 10fps quicker.....

Basically these are unbeatable value they perform very close if not the same as the 512MB version but from OcUK you can buy them for £199 +VAT. :D :D :D

Gibbo, if possible, can you post an picture of an actual X1800Xt 256MB card? I wanna see if it uses the XL PCB or XT PCB :)

HI there

It is dual slot design!

I don't have a camera but to look at it the card itself it looks no different at all too a 512MB version......

Whats the noise like compared to a 7800GT? I think lots of people (including me) are thinking of selling there GT & getting one of these as the upgrade would only cost about £20. Would be interesting to see how they perform against each other.

Hi there

On initial startup when you power on your PC they are louder as they spin up. But quickly slow down too a very quiet level. Even in use the fans don't tend to kick up so on a whole tend to be a little quieter than a 7800 GT. :)

Excellent....Can you give a rough estimate (going from previous) when you think you will see the 1000 as I would need the cash from my 7800gt to fund the purchase so dont want to sell GT then find out all stock has gone.

Any where i can find a comparison between this and a 7800gt.
I'm looking at either this or a Leadtek GeForce 7800GT. Can only find info on the 512mb version.

Gibbo- question. Do you predict these lasting a month? If so, you have a sale as I will make it my perogative to order one when I get payed next month, in about 3 weeks.

How many roughly did you sell a day since you announced this the day before yesterday/yesterday?

Hi m8

I am sure we will have some left or a similar deal possibly from another ATI partner. Connect3D are the first to drop their price and give the stock too OcUK so if other partners have stock they may follow. Though I do believe this is a pretty rare card but am sure that in a months time these will be still available or just as good deal. :)

The X1800XT 256MB is faster than the 7800GT.

Ok, thanks for the quick reply. Will hold on and hope you still have some then, or perhaps even some 512MB versions for the same price on offer ;) (you know you want to ;) )

Alex

As the normal X1800XT is faster than a 7800GTX when you turn the res up I would have thought the 256mb version would perform the same as a 7800GTX so quite a bit faster than a 7800GT.

The reviews on toms hardware seem to show the opposite. Looking at secureing a system to last me the next couple of years without touching it. Really torn between nvidia and ati, i have no loyalty just want the best bang for my buck! Looking to play FEAR as well as possible on a gfx card budget of approx £200 inc.vat.

Tbh, most of the other sites I have seen say 1800 is faster, it's only toms that seems to mark ati down in all thier tests, which makes me wonder about thier testing process, as its negated by several other sites usually.
