I would like to connect 2 monitors via hdmi to a Thinkpad E14 with only 1 hdmi port. I have read about signal splitters and docking stations for this purpose.

My understanding is a splitter would just duplicate the signal, so I would need a docking station to extend the display across the 2 monitors and the laptop screen?

Can anyone recommend a decent docking station? Prices seem pretty steep and I am wary of the cheaper brands on Jeff's website.

Doesnt it have a thunderbolt port (usb c) you can just get a converter to HDMI or DP for that, infact im sure you can split the thunderbolt into 2x HDMI with the corrector adaptor.

thunderbolt isnt the same as USB C but they do look a alike.

USB-C and USB 3.2 you can plug in diskplaylink capable USB adaptors to drive multiple monitors.

well usb c devices work in a thunderbolt port, and he has thunderbolt. I have 2 thunderbolt ports and HDMI so I can plug in 3 monitors

Thanks for your responses guys.

The thunderbolt port is also the power slot though isn't it? Will I be able to find a splitter that allows me to charge it and run another monitor?

£20 will get you a USB-C multiport adapter from a Prime e-tailer. I grabbed an Anker one for about that with a a charger pass through, 2x USB3, USB-C, HDMI and an SD card slot.

And before you ask, yes it works fine on a Thunderbolt ThinkPad. I've used it on my work T590.
