Connecting external HD to router using ethernet port - how?!

I am trying to connect an external HD to a Huawei B535 router using an ethernet port/cable as it doesn't have a USB connector.

However, i can't see any settings in on the router to configure it and make the HD visible.

Have i bought completely the wrong things?!

Any suggestions appreciated!

What drive have you bought?

If it has an Ethernet port it'll have its own configuration where you can make it visible on the network.

You don’t usually configure them from the router, you configure them from a client (PC etc.) using either a web interface or just by mapping the drive from Windows or another operating system.
