I had a lot of trouble today trying to connect my newly built HTPC to my Pioneer plasma screen (PDP-435XDE). Problem lies with this overscan issue... it won't fit on the screen, edges are being cut off etc... This was using an HDMI -> DVI (Plasma -> HTPC) connection...

My motherboard (Gigabyte GA-G33M-S2H) has an HDMI connection, so I assume I should be using HDMI -> HDMI instead? The reason I used the former is because I didn't have an HDMI-to-HDMI cable. Now will this solve my issue?

Also, I'm sure I've asked this before, but what is the best connection method to connect my AMP to my Creative X-Fi sound card?

I don't have the same display, but many people use DVI-HDMI cables without a problem with LCD/Plasma- HTPC setups. What resolution is your display? Can you send native to it? Is there a overscan slider on the graphics tab?

Nope, problem is - I am using the onboard Intel GMA built into the Gigabyte GA-G33M-S2H. The graphics properties are extremely limited and does not provide any overscan options. Video playback hasn't been too bad, but the display is mis-aligned/goes off the screen due to the problem aforementioned - very, very irritating.
