Connection cuts off under heavy traffic

Well, at least I think that's the problem. Signal strength is good whilst browsing the internet with a speed of 36 Mpbs, but when I load up TDU and it connects online, I usually only get two minutes of play or so before my connection just disconnects before reconnecting itself. Tried using netlimiter but that didn't work so now stumpted as well as p*ssed off as I can'tplay my game.

Network card is a dlink DWL-G510 and router is a dlink DI-624

I think TDU is test drive.

You will find games like on line poker are happy enough on a wireless connection as the odd drop out makes little difference. On fast action games the odd drop out can cause the game to drop.

I would try playing the game when connected to your router via a network cable. If you then get no problems you know the issue is when you use wireless. Things you can try are firmware updates and the latest drivers. Also AV software can cause fast action games to slow down a lot and even cause disconnections. Try running TDU with your AV etc turned off as your routers firewall will protect your during on line gaming. Just make sure you turn your antivirus back on for web browsing.

My connection drops out now and again even when im wired to the router, costing me large sums of money while playing poker  Think Linksys/Virgin (whoever caused the problem) will reimburse me the thousands of dollars they have cost me?

Ive noticed mine has cut out now and again over the past few days, once I start using up programs that soak up the bandwidth, though none were games.. I guess ill start playing some online games tonight to see howmuch it cuts off.

I think it's the active connection count not the overall bandwidth usage that causes drop outs in most cases (routers running out of memory?). Unless of course its a physical line (signal) issue.

Drop outs with Torrents but not games for example is good evidence of a problem with connection numbers. Best way to try and fix this is firmware upgrades/disabling unecessary features.

Hope this helps :)

Yea, Mine did drop out when downloading torrents.

yes it's connections and connection timeouts, your router is holding too many and crashing. I've had a few do this, but the only one I could fix it on was a WRT54GL with dd-wrt. This firmware is available for other routers too.

follow this link and perform solution 1, or whatever is similar on your router.

This cured my problem.

You may be able to install dd-wrt onto your router you'd need to check the page :

Thanks, I'll look into it and see if it makes a difference. :D
