Consultation on internet adult content measures

I would assume that a 'young teen' looking up porn has been thinking about sex.

Yeah, but it's really not the same as watching a violent movie or videogame. Let's put it this way, I honestly think my perception of sex has been distorted by porn. I don't think my perception of the appropriateness of violence has been distorted by playing copious amounts of terrifically violent videogames and movies.

eg, typing "devon" with safesearch off gets you some interesting results

Are you sure you're not logged into Google and using Chrome? You'll see different search results than everyone else if you are. I tried this, and as like most people I didn't see anything that stood out.

I know the general populace are stupid but I won't believe they're THAT stupid, not yet anyway.

It doesn't matter, we actually have no influence on these things as they are unfortunately not key voter issues.
Most people choose how they vote from either
Family tradition
How much they hate the poor/rich
What the PM is like

These small things probably won't change who someone will vote for and this is why we all get treated like **** as they sneak it through behind our backs.
Anyone who uses the internet now is treated by politicians as either a terrorist, a child watching porn or a filesharer. It's the truth and a terrible one.

I agree with you but maybe this could be the tipping point for us? Or maybe when the increase of rapes is reported they will revert the decision.

In my humble opinion I wouldn't say having to opt in for getting porn on the internet is going to be cause for a revolution any time soon.

I've often been wrong on things, especially when it comes to trying to judge the pack mentality of humans.

For all I know, you may be right.

Nobody has given me a reason why porn is harmful to someone who wants to watch it.

It's not harmful to most people that watch it, however, age and any mental issues can result in issues, things like this:

I personally don't like the opt in opt out rubbish, however simply enforce the .xxx domain on all adult sites and put a password protection option to block them in routers/browsers/OS's etc.

Internet censorship by the back door.

Shame all these politicians weren't so concerned about innocent children being 'damaged' when they initiated the Iraq war. God knows how many kids that left brutalised and mutiliated.

I wouldn't say mine has been. I'm not sure i agree on the games/movies front though. Games, perhaps you are right, but i feel movies have contributed to desensitisation somewhat. Put it this way i feel more uncomfortable watching someone hit a dog than someone die. I'd say this is partially down to people dying in movies being 'no big deal' so to speak. It's certainly more common than seeing someone beat the **** out of their pets. Obviously browsing *chan/reddit etc plays a part in that which is my own fault but from day 1 on 4chan the shock of seeing half a human was less than seeing a burning cat.

Go out and get some unless they can't because they are ugly?

What? Is that supposed to be a response to my statement? This has nothing to do with "going out and getting *some*" it's about the pointless and ineffective filtering of the Internet because a few lazy parents are crying out on Mumsnet.

It's wholesale Internet censorship. Something Iran or China would be proud of.

What an ignorant response lol

Exactly.
