Contact lenses?

I used to wear contacts for a while, monthlies first and then dailies. Went back to glasses as it was becoming too expensive at the time.

I want to try them out again firstly because I hate having to carry around prescription sunglasses, especially when it suddenly gets sunny when driving and I need to swap them over  (no I don't want 'reactions', they go yellow after a while). Also, no matter how hard I try to look after my glasses, they get dirty, smudged and covered in tiny scratches. Lastly, the lack of peripheral vision is very annoying.

So I want to look at daily contacts again, price wise what am I looking at, and is there any truth that the cheap unbranded stuff at Specsavers and the like is the same as some of the more pricey branded stuff? What brands do you recommend? Any general advice on where to go (Specsavers, Vision Express etc)?

I think specsavers works out at about £18 a month. A few of my friends get theirs from there. I wear rigid gas permiable (RGP) contacts which you also could maybe consider. They're not as convenient as daily disposables but will work out cheaper in the long run. I only pay around £9 a month if not less on solutions and my lenses were £170 (your's would be much cheaper as mine are very strong +16.50's ). My current pair i've had for 2.5 years and they're still fine. I know of people who've had them for 8 years and theirs are still ok!
