Hi

Ive sent 1 stick of my DDR2 off to Corsair for RMA, so Im currently only running 1GB, and the difference is noticable, very noticable. Ive got the Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800Mhz with the 5 5 5 12 timings. Touble is, ive found another 2x1GB sticks set for cheap (cant say where, but sorry OcUK, you are by far the most expensive on this). Now its got me thinking. Im not particularly confident the RMA is going to turn round quickly or return me a complete working stick. So I could buy another 2GB, and run that untill I get a replacememnt, and if possible, stick it in and have 4GB. Do I really want 4GB 5 5 5 12 DDR2? Im running XP 32bit, with no urgent plans to upgrade, on a P965 DS3 mobo. What iim looking for is 'your mobo wont take it' or '4GB shows no difference over 2GB' to convince me I dont need to buy them... because atm Im very tempted....

Im aware 32bit only gives me 3.2ish GB's. I was running an E6400 Oced to 3.2Ghz with the RAM running exactly 800Mhz and 5 5 5 12.

So, convince me... :)

with the rising prices of parts generally, why not spend a tiny bit for another 2GB of ram, to convince you not to get more ram isnt going to be easy apart from it may affect your overclock

How may it affect my OC? Ive got my CPU at 400Mhz FSB thru an 8x multiplier and then a 2x on the RAM making it 800, and at manually set 5 5 5 12 timings. The RAM therefore isnt OCed. I havent changed the voltages however... heard this may be needed.

The big phanali is, will you use all the memory? Or you just going to have it just for the sake of it?

i not entirely sure on this but doesnt 4 sticks of ram puts more "stress" on the northbridge the 2 sticks, soemone correct me if im wrong

Pretty much for the sake of it. Ive noticed a major difference in PC performance going from 2GB down to 1. Was kinda hoping to get a noticable difference going up to 3.2ish...
