I live in a flat down a small side road, about 10m from a main road which is on a cabled area. The flats are part of the same building as a house on the main road and I know they have cable. The coax has actually been run down the side of the house so it's actually about 2 meters from where it would need to enter my flat!

Unfortunately, the cable doesnt go down my little street, so the postcode checker says its not available. If I can get permission from the owner of the house to run another coax down the side, what would be the chances of convincing Virgin to do it?

You'll have to wade through oodles of Virgin bureaucracy and call centres just to be told no again. I have no direct experience with this, but I really don't think they'll do it. Maybe if everyone down your street contacted them and asked for it to be installed.

Give them a try...

When I moved to my street NTL "claimed" it was cabled, when they installer arrived they found that nobody had actually put the cable in the ground, they'd just laid the pipes :D

After a few weeks of haggling they eventually pulled through a cable just for me, I had my own INTERNETS :D

be cheeky order quoting your flat address as flat one of the house with cable with ther postcode, installer might just see sense and make the 2m link

Not a bad idea actually, my address is actually "4 xxxx court, xxx place" but for some reason my water bills come to "Flat 4, 11 xxxx street" - xxxx street being the main road.

What would they do if they turn up and then refuse to install - would I be charged? The only problem I can see is the credit check
