Cookie Clicker game

just got my 1st dungeon on the beta...

get achievements for defeating certain 'monsters' and can pickup cookies as you go along (not that many, 5k here, 10k there etc)

Character seems to move around on their own like 1 block per second and you need to 'fight' for control with an up/down/left/right clicky. destroying objexts/monsters you just press whichever direction that monster is. doesn't seem to be any lives as such, when i die another dungeon just gets generated.

No idea if there's a true exit to the dungeons, not got far enough to find out.

edit: ok, defeating an 'end boss' allows you access to the next level (and gives you the achievement for that 'boss') current;y on level 3 of 'ravaged bakeworks'

I'm thinking of leaving the beta till it's fully integrated. According to Reddit it's still not great. However, the idea of having something to "do" while your numbers tick up is an overdue idea.

Still, this game is barely two months old so there's quite a bit of dev to do.

This 'game' is really just a means for Orteil to mine Bitcoins using your hardware. Clever guy really.

This is just wild speculation isn't it? It's illegal anyway... This accusation was levelled at him right from the outset.

From his tumblr:

As I’ve said before, if you check the source code it’s all my javascript + some of google’s services. I’m not mining bitcoins with your computer, I’m not installing anything weird in the background - it’s just a silly Candy Box rip-off I made one night that got weirdly popular. That’s all there is to it

Left this running in the background so far tonight.. I'll get on it shortly and hopefully get some GCs to take me to the Get Lucky upgrade [may not happen tonight, I need another 50T cookies!].

Well, you don't have any of the GC upgrades yet, Lucky Day, Serendipity or Get Lucky. That would speed things along nicely. I imagine they've just been very slow to come there or you're missing them?

I've got about 100T baked all time, which would only give me about 20 HC, so that would be a 30% multiplier on a reset.

Looks like I'd better stick with it.

On another note the Eldar Covenent has become ridiculously expensive at 66T, as has the Pledge now for me, at 5T cookies. I think I'm just going to have to hang on and buy the Covenent before doing anything else otherwise my Pledges are going to go sky-high if I wanted GCs.

I so want to start the prestige mode... without hacks. A friend in work is much further ahead than me even though he started a week later due to abusing the reset function (And by looking at the wiki to work out exactly the quickest methods (which ruins it IMO).

Me too, but no hax here. I'm also going to wait till the dungeons are officially integrated. Can't see myself using the Greasemonkey either.. that would be like entering Hampton Court Maze with a grounds map.

Schumi, always a pleasure to see you here. So you've been sucked in as well. Yes, a bizarre concept but I suppose it's its simplicity and the constant ability to endlessly upgrade that makes it interesting...

It's a decent game for listening to music. If you want to concentrate on an album, it doesn't distract you too much from the music but gives you something entertaining to do at the same time.

Latest Firefox update has broken it for me :(

Agh roll back roll back!

I'm going to earn about 70T tonight only to spend them on the bloody Elder Covenant because Pledges are now stupidly expensive. Not so much fun for me tonight.

EDIT: gave into temptation and bought Big Bang Bake. Definitely worth it - went from 1.9B cps to 3.2B cps.

I'm not able to leave this running. I've just started where I left off yesterday. Which is just starting the Grandmapocolypse.
Although I'm not really sure what the consequences of this are. :o

You get a bunch more achievements and red cookies instead of golden ones. The irony being that in order to get really far in the game you have to use Pledges to appease them and make golden cookies appear again instead of red. It's the golden cookies which will get you a significent amount of cookies baked later in the game.

without cheating? 52 sextillion cookies for your next cursor seems a little unachievable without cheating ;)

Just means the golden cookies turn red and give negative effects instead. Can pay to revoke this for 30 mins (upgradable to 1 hour) this cost will keep increasing until it caps out at ~4.3 trillion.

Can permanently undo this for 67 trillion and 5% loss of cps.

It's only one of the cookies, "ruin", [28% chance of appearance] which gives a negative effect. Well two if you count "clot" [28% chance of appearance], which isn't that bad in comparison. The other four, "lucky" [28%], "chain" [6%], "elder frenzy" [6%] and "clicking frezy" [2%] are positive. However, when using red cookies I've got a hell of a lot of "ruins" and not much of anything else. This is why for me it's always better to appease and switch to golden cookies.

Some boffins have done some research and worked out that after a certain about of cookies [600m cps I think] it's far more feasible to permanently switch to golden.
