Hi All,

I was going to post a long thread about wanting to change jobs.. blah blah blah (I got bored writing it so you lot'd definitely get bored reading it!). But I thought instead I'd post saying what cool jobs are their for technical people who aren't graduates from bodmin polytechnic but actually good prospects. Anything from lowly paid but rewarding jobs to highly paid but dull?

Lets have some ideas in here! :D

Hopefully there'll be ideas for all of us!

I went through this and got offered a job as a ICT technician at my old sixth form - the other technician is even helping me and the sixth pays for my MCSEs ;)

The most exciting jobs attract the best people, so they are highly competitive. Consultancy jobs aren't known for the excitement factor, but you can earn a lot of money.

On the research side of things:
  • Anything to do with computational fluid dynamics is quite fashionable, working for major engineering firms, the military or even F1.
  • Medical imaging is currently having a huge amount of money pumped into it, so anyone with a good understanding of inverse scattering techniques (particularly those associated with PET and suchlike) and a good knowledge of computational PDE techniques are in high demand.
  • GCHQ have high profile jobs of a mathematical nature open to those who have shown an exceptionally high aptitude for the subject.
  • Theoretical development of semi-conductors.
  • Try to get funding for a PhD at a top University (or Bodmin Polytechnic).
There are loads more, but I got tired of typing!

Chocolate Starfish Destroyer at Thorntons.... they're little parasitic oraganisims a lot like marine starfish, but they burrow into the chocolates if allowed to breed.

Ask in store for more details of the position.
