Coppers - Channel 4

Just caught up with this on 4od. It's a good documentary tbh.

Some of the stuff the Traffice Cops had to deal with was just grim tbh. Seeing the calls to the emergancy line made me cringe. They were just insanely stupid. He/She doesn't want to see me blah blah blah, she slept with my boyfriend blah blah blah. Can't believe someone phoned 999 to connect them to their mobile provider aswell lol.

watched this with the missus and its how a cop show should be lol!

was very entertaining, love seeing "jaykees" ( scottish word for scum ) throwing their lives away!

I enjoyed the response episode, gives people an insight to the sort of crap people phone the police for, the constant domestics, facebook, text threats and just general stupidity of some people. What I was slightly disappointed with was the fact they didn't show how time consuming some of these incidents are and the amount of paperwork that's generated as a result. 9 times out of 10 domestics are usually a load of rubbish, just minor arguments and too much alcohol, not really and need for police involvement however we still have to cover all bases meaning that 2 cops are stuck in the office for a few hours doing pointless paperwork.

I know it doesn't really make for exciting TV but it might show people why sometimes you hardly see any cops out on the street.

Last weeks look at the trafpol's work was sobering

I genuinely never realised they have to bag and tag the bodies in a roadside fatality.

I thought they had a private ambulance come and collect the bodies. Undertakers and police officers, councillors (for the poor blokes that have to inform the relatives of the deceased) accident investigators, oh yes and the small matter of policing the roads.

That scene with the caravan that was rammed from behind by the van. Harrowing stuff :(

I saw e01 and e02 earlier in the week will be sure to catch the new ep soon. I like to watch the cop shows, BBC have done quite a few good ones, they are mostly amusing, the only outcome i ever get from the shows however is...

Cops do a great job, the courts fail hard.

Good show. I like the introduction where the copper sings "woop woop, its the sound of the police" and the bit where some chav is in the back of the van and says "Meeer, coppers are all ****ers" (gentlemen who pleasure themselves) and the copper just goes "reeeeeey! ****ers!" for the guy to smile and laugh at him.

The latest episode about 999 calls was absolutely shocking. So many idiots out there in Britain (all be it you see the worst of them mostly). Infuriating to see people call 999 to ask them to prove to a shop that they are over 19 due to them being refused tobacco.

A few of my mates were on last nights show, thankfully they were the coppers/PCSO and not the numbnuts who were getting arrested. Have to say i've done the Wakey run on a number of occasions (about 12'ish pubs on the way in to Wakefield) where you have a drink in each pub, but i've never ended up in such a state as some of those folk. Nice to see all the wakey slappers out in there short skirts/belts, i can feel a night out in Wakey in the offing! :D

last night a couple of coppers were talking about how theres no respect for police now adays and he doesnt know why......

im sure it stopped about the time police were no longer allowed to give you a clip round the ear before marching you back home, or a good wack with their baton!

next weeks will be good too, seeing all the protesters getting the **** kicked out of them!

another great episode the other night, proving again that this show is one of a kind and all involved should be congratulated.

whilst the episode didnt really convey anything new. ie. im sure we all knew that excessive drunks are a drain on society, it was still interesting to see the police;s view on it.

i felt really sorry for the women police officer that got hit, not nice at all and her partner was properly ****ed off with that..was good too see them calling the drunks pricks etc. real emotion and justified given the crap they go through on a nightly occasion.

fitting at the end , when they were talking to the female PO , with her basically saying its just going to get worse so we might aswell all get drunk.lol.

How come that police officer was telling that guy to take the face mask off? Is it against the law now?

And now that guy has been arrested for swearing, yet a police officer was doing earlier?

Longbow - there's an order that a Chief constable can make that can be in effect for a set period of time, within a set area, that means people must uncover their face when asked to do so by cops - it is done for most football matches as far as I know, and for protests like the one on tonight's show. The reason for it is that it makes it easier to evidence when people do break the law with mob behaviour, as some people often do - usually people who have no affiliation to the cause being protested.

And the swearing issue - I agree, it looks very bad when a cop is swearing like they were. I fully understand it, and don't really disagree with it in some circumstances, and there are psychological reasons for it - I don't agree with arresting someone simply for swearing in those circumstances though.

TBH, from what I saw - about half the programme - the actions of the cops on the street were legal and correct, even if a couple of things didn't come across well on camera. The attitude of some of them in the post-incident interviews, however, was horrible IMO.

Indeed, it just seemed completely pointless to arrest that man. He would have had to have been put in a van, booked etc, but for what purpose? Complete waste of resources considering earlier on, each group would have been swearing none stop at each other.

I agree on the interviews. Some of the police just came across as complete jerks.
