This seems like a crazy thing for the police to be doing

Stop them being used as weapons?

But surely a car could come from anywhere so they would need to slash the tyres of every single car/ van / Lorry etc for miles

Yes I agree, but you never know how they are thinking.

I can see doing things like this is just going make many people really angry towards the police
