Core 2 Duo bottleneck a Radeon 7750?

Alright guy's how's it going?

I was wondering if my Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 2.2Ghz CPU would bottleneck a Radeon 7750? My current graphics card is Geforce GT520, which is alright, but i play games now and again and it is letting the side down, so i am looking at a 7750.

Any advice guys?

Thanks

Jamie.

You'll struggle to find any specifics about that combination of graphics card and CPU but I think yes, it will quite badly bottleneck.

I had a E8500 @ 4 Ghz (which is a fair bit better than the E4500) and it badly bottlenecked a HD 6870 which is very roughly equivalent to a 7700.

That C2D chip doesn't hold up that well anymore. :(

There will be some bottleneck but I don't think it will be too bad as the 7750 isn't the most powerful card. It all depends on the game and what settings you play on. The higher the resolution and higher the graphics settings the less importance the cpu has.

6870 kills the 7770.

Damb, i really need to build a system that is up to date.

I may go ahead and buy the 7750 anyway.

But thanks for your help anyway mate!
With that CPU I would suggest you just try to pick up something like a 8800GT/9800GT for now for around £25-£30. Even that would be somewhat being hold back by your CPU, but the thing is when you eventually upgrade the rest of your system and get a faster card, you would still be able sell the 8800GT/9800GT for the same price, if not may be £5-£10 less. So essentially, you are only paying £0-£10 for "renting" the card to use.

6870 kills the 7770.
dave was against everyone and solo declaring 7770 is a great card at £130 when it launched, and that it is justified because the 68xx cards are going EOL. Funny months has passed and there's still plenty of 68xx card available :D

A 7750 = 5770 = 4870 give or take a little bit iirc. I fitted a 4870 for my friend a few years ago, he had an e6550 2.33ghz and it bottlenecked it quite severely (at 1440x900). Even my [email protected] with an 8800gt beat it in performance. If you can overclock it to around 3.2+ ghz I don't think you'll bottleneck the card too much.

I may be buy a second hand 8800gt. Apart from saving me a few quid, my cpu won't bottleneck it to much, games will run smoother. My cpu is completely locked and doesn't overclock so option for that.
