Core i5 vs Phenom II 955/965

Which one is better to get? Will be using DDR3 with either system

System will be used for mainly gaming with occasional video/image editing work

Either will do fine, i5 will be slightly better now but an AM3 build will have more upgrade potential.

From what i've heard yes the thuban six core cpu will be compatible with am3 boards.

yep i have heard the 6 core will be compatable with am3 and possibly am2+.
