I've just fitted a Zalman CNPS9700 Aero Flower onto my 939 AMD x2 4600, I followed the instructions that came with it and also checked their website for correct installation. I'm just a little concerned that the weight of the heatsink and fan seems to be resting on the lower side of the chip - and not supported fully by the bracket. There is also some movement of the cooler - it can rotate slightly left and right.

Should a fan this big not be held firmly by the black plastic bracket?

I can supply a picture if it helps.

many thanks

I have exactly the same issue with my Conroe setup, used the 775 bracket and it's possible to budge it sideways!

I have this cooler, and yes i can rotate it a little each way , but it has got a fair amount of pressure against the CPU. Its been coming upto a year now and i havnt had any issues yet, eventually it got so well stuck to the AS5 it wouldnt vudge anyway.

Mine's like that too - it's not a problem. As the AS5 sets properly, it'll tighten up. Temps are great on my X2 3800, so I wouldn't be worrying about it unless your experiencing bad results with it.

What would you classify as 'bad results'?

I'm at 45 idle and 56 under full load. That's with all fans on quiet.

IMO, that seems pretty bad.

I've purchased the Zalman CNPS9700-NT nVidia Tritium Super Aero Flower Cooler version, not had any issues at all solid as a rock on the motherboard.

My temps are 32 degrees idle, approx 40 degrees full load on both cores. I'm pleased with the results so far, going to start overclocking it this weekend and see how it performs.
