As some of you may know the fans on the 500R use non standard 3 pin connectors in order to facilitate the on/off of the LEDS, this is similar to the 4 pin fans Xclio use on their gear. Anyway I was wondering if anybody knows what the three wires do? i.e left = ground, center = power to fan, right = LED power.

Depending on how they are wired im thinking it may be possible to knock up some adapters to allow me to use non LED fans by connecting just the fan power and ground wires thus retaining the speed control (depending how they are wired ofc).

It would be easy just to grab a multimeter and work it out. It's likely they'd have designed it the same as standard fans though. Pin 1 for 0v, Pin 2 for 12v and then the custom Pin 3 for the LED positive voltage which would share the 0v to complete its circuit.

You could probably work it out by tracing wires on whatever the fan / led controller uses to power the fans.
