I bought the Corsair GS700 a couple of weeks ago and fitted it into my rebuild just over a week ago when I got my new case. While at low load it is silent, as intended because the fan is off and it's not a lot louder when under heavy load because the fan is whisper quiet anyway. However, when it's on the thermal threshold between being on and off (happens a lot while gaming) it makes a very annoying noise. While gaming it tends to hover around the threshold so this noise is present most of the time and seems to occur mostly during the spin down phase, though it also seems to become stuck sometimes so I get a nice sustained burst.

Here's an example of the same noise: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HjC2YTUsNVg

Oh how I wish I'd waited two weeks and I could have got the HX 650 - choice was pretty limited a couple of weeks back.

oh, sorry my bad. Scrap what I said :P. Personally I would take it apart (electronics student). But I wouldn't recommend that. being a PSU you cant tell it to do anything fan speed wise. Perhaps try to draw more power out of the system.

Maybe connect a 12v lightbulb to the molex xD
