corsair h100i v2 question

I have installed this AIO but I can't fit the small connector into the plate as motherboard heatsinks are in the way, it's the cable that you connect to your usb 2 header.

Will the pump still work without this connected? As I'm guessing it only allows to control fan speed etc from Corsair software.

If so I can live without the cable.

It'll work but its easier to set up fan profiles and monitor water temps etc if its connected, which way have you got the pump connected as in is the conector at the bottom as you look at it ?

I would turn it round so you can. I mean you really need to be able to set up and use fan profiles.
