Hi all I have just received my corsair H50 and Mx 3 Tim ok I want to remove the tim on the corsair H50 with the new tim which is best way to apply the tim on to the cpu or on to the heat sink ?

I would really like some advise because I do not think I could make it round like it is on the heat sink.

I installed the Corsair H50 earlier today and have got great temps, after terrible temps with the Titan Fenrir. When installing it I wiped away the existing thermal paste from the H50 with a tissue and used isopropyl alcohol to clean both it and the processor. Then I applied a reasonable amount of MX-2 in the shape of an 'X' and spread it thinly with a credit card; I wiped the remainder onto the H50 and did the same.

Hi I removed the supplied TIM on the H50 and put AS5 on it. I put a very very thin layer onto the H50 base. I used a plastic card and applied AS5 in the similar way the H50 came with. I then applied a thin line across my CPU (i7 920) . Intel recommend a thin line (horizontal) across the cores. I then installed the H50. My stock system Asus R2E, 920, Dominator runs around 30c on idle and 35-40c on load (general multitasking)

When securing the unit to the board make sure you follow the cross pattern as the pressure will be evenly applied onto the cpu. Do this well and you'll get even coverage.
