I have one coming tomorrow to replace my enermax liberty 500w. I can't be sure if its the cause but because I have a new q9550, a new asus p5q deluxe, a freshly opened RMA'ed pair of crucial ballistix 6400 DDR2, and also a new 5770 asus voltage tweak; and have exhausted all combinations of bios settings that I can think of, I'm hoping it will solve it. I even tried setting my RAM subtimings to -2 default as I read in a thread on xtremesystems forums.

I read that capacitors can degrade over time meaning that a PSU rated at a sufficient level of wattage over time could become less than needed.

So I got the 850w on last week only. It should last me a few upgrades so, its a £130 pound investment.

Anyone think Ill have a stable system with the new PSU? I have my Asus on all auto ATM, and so far has not crashed, it usually freezes during the night on low load. I leave the monitor power off disabled so I can see the screensaver has froze.

HX850 is a cracking bit of kit, l read a few reviews all said it was top notch, thats good enough for me. Got two PC's running HX620 they have never missed a beat, you can't beat Corsair for quality.

It hard locked with sound loop while playing americas army 3, so I have just chucked in my corsair 4Gb kit and see if that makes it stable at least till tomorrow.

Just locked up exactly the same way with the corsair xms6400. I'll get this PSU in and if it still does it, I'll swap out my CPU for my old e2160. If it still does it, its either the memory (but both do the same thing) or its the Asus p5q. If thats the case I might aswell get a whole new mobo, cpu and ram. Sometimes trying to save a bit (i.e. use p35dq6) cost u more in the end.:(

It was the PSU afterall. I am sitting at 3.8Ghz 1:1 with my crucial bolloxstix, whereas my corsair xms would not even boot at 1:1. I had to notch the peformance level down. I went from stock pl10 to pl13.

The error was found while running linx at real-time priority, ran again at normal priority and it didn't error so...

Moved gtl ref to x0.640 and got this:

Crucial Ballistix are now at 5:6 doing 1080 with 2.06 (maybe overvolt to 2.09). You can see in my first screenshot that I get a bit of vdroop without LLC enabled, but in the bios I select 1.3625. Possibly could be reporting it wrong. The only way to know for sure is to probe it with a multi-meter. I have seen pictures of the measurement points.

Fixed.

Now go buy a proper memory while you're at it !

I'm proper chuffed that I've got them running in all 4 banks with minimal effort. p5q deluxe Nb 1.36v vDimm 2.1v set in bios.

I paid £126 for the first pair and about £45 for the 2nd, wanted to avoid buying DDR2 at all costs tbh.

Vcore is on 1.3825v with a full load reading of 1.3v.
