Hi All,

I have the option to buy a new Corsair HX850i PSU as a second chance offer on ebay for £96. Has original cellophane wrapping on it. Originally released in 2014. 80 Plus Platinum rating.

Does it sound like a good deal / worth buying 10 years after original release date?

Any reasons why I might want to avoid it? Listing says 10 year warranty from manufacturer - would this still be honored?

Thanks,

Why would you? Capacitors still age even though they aren’t being used.

You would have to specifically want that model for some purpose to do so. Just buy a modern PSU.

I don’t think there would be any warranty on it. You are buying it ‘second hand’ surely?

I'd only consider it if I was really desperate for the icue support, otherwise I'd just get the newer ATX3.x/PCIE5 SHIFT model from a reputable retailer where you know the warranty will be covered (assuming side mounted cables are supported by your case).
