Corsair Hydro H70

Yes it can be used without the fan/fans, but as said, really all depends on the temps. May not be ideal, but if only watching movies, or web browsing then can't see why not.

I often run my watercooling without my fans on, but then again my radiator is far better then the corsair one.

So you won't get brilliant temps, but yes it can be done, but would'nt advise it if your doing intensive stuff. Idle, and light load only.

why not get some quiet fans like 2 apache fans , without a fan the heat will stay in radiator , for example.

if radiator in a car would not get airflow it would overheat, couse heats stays in.

Id say providing you have good case flow and not a boiling room you should be fine. Someof the low intel dual cores run very cool but dont expect a quad to be as cool :P

It can be used without a fan but the passive cooling potential would be very poor compared with active cooling, even with a slow moving fan.

A single radiator like the H70 isn't really suited to passive cooling as not enough surface area is exposed to enough air. Maybe a triple or quad rad might give acceptable passive cooling for a stock cpu. I don't think many go the passive route but it can be done.

Radiators have to be massive to work without good airflow where they just rely on natural heat transfer.

I have the Antec MicroFusion HTPC case and am trying to get it silent or quieter.

The exhaust fans on the case are a joke and at low speed are very audible. The fan on cpu cooler is also rather noisy but i have slowed it down with a controller.

I know the radiator wouldn't fit inside the case, but i was considering having it hanging out at the back ...... with a fan exposed shouldn't be a problem but not a great idea for unsuspecting hands ;)

The cpu is an AMD 5600+ and gets rather warm if the exhaust fans aren't on!

You can grab yourself a wire grille like this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FG-005-GE if you have an exposed fan. Run it slowly outside the case and it should cool that 5600+ just fine. The H70s pump will put out some noise of course so you'll have to contend with that.

Why not rip the Molex off the tri-cools and get a normal fan connector on there (maybe if you have some spares) and wire them up to the fan controller to have them spinning slower than Antec intended, it's what I do with my P183s lower chamber Tri-cool as 1200rpm is just too much.
