Hi guys

The latest Corsair case is finally upon us.

Corsair Obsidian 700D Full Tower Case - Black @ £190.98 inc VAT

CA-025-CS_400.jpg

The steel structure has a matte black coating both inside out and is finished with a brushed aluminum faceplate for a professional look that’s both serious and awe-inspiring.

The power supply compartment, main compartment and the SATA bays each have dedicated cooling subsystems to prevent heat buildup.

A dust-filtered 140mm fan draws in cold air at the bottom of the chassis and exhausts it at the rear and top. This clever design forces fresh air directly over the graphics card and CPU. The hard drive / SSD bays are cooled by a separate 140mm fan which vents from the chassis via a sealed chamber and prevents the heat generated by the drives from entering the main compartment. The power supply compartment has its own dedicated intake and exhaust, also isolated from the main compartment.

Need even more cooling performance? The Obsidian Series 700D has pre-drilled support for top-mounted single, dual, and triple radiators, or up to three additional 120mm fans.
Advanced Features for Extreme Flexibility

Six drive bays with clever snap-in trays accommodate both 3.5” and 2.5” drives with no adapter necessary. A unique cable routing system virtually eliminates cable clutter that can impede airflow. The tool-free design allows for easy entry, easy access, and quick installation of 5.25” drives.

Shame to see the 700D has the same dimensions as the 800D.
Case is just too big to be practical imo.

why would you buy the 800d now the 700d is 45 pounds cheaper you can get a custom window cut for less then 45 pounds, to me the price of the 700d make the 800d redundent.

a lot of people won't want the hassle of modding their side panel and the hot swap drives are in the 800D so combined this makes both products viable, depending on your requirements and needs.

why has the 800D gone up in price LOADS?!
I e-mailed corsair about side panel windows for the 700D, said they will distribute them would ocuk be able to get them in?

Why has the price gone up by £25? Its ridiculous.

I was gonna go up the warehouse next week and get one, I think i'll get it from some place else. Its cheaper from another online retailer even with next day delivery >:[

Im more annoyed because I always buy from OCuk.

They only do this cause the price difference between the two is too small to justify buying a 700 if you can get the 800 for almost the same money

Hmm well that helps push me away from the 800D now, looked okay pricewise before especially with the performance bundle. I'd be sure to buy my whole new rig here if I can be sure I'm getting a good price...

Let me explain! It really is not ridiculous.

We buy Corsair products in US dollars. Our last buy was at a rate of 1.62 so buying something for $100 at a rate of 1.62 works out at £61.72 cost.

We have bought new stock at a rate of 1.48 so the same $100 item now costs £67.56 so a $100 item has gone up by over £6.

Bearing in mind that the cost of Corsair cases are close to $300 so that makes a £15-£18 increase. This is all ex. VAT too, so a £18 ex VAT increase is £21+

What part of this is ridiculous? It's a shame that so many people do not understand the effect of exchange rates on electonic products.

Well, I didn't really think of it that way, I'm not really in the know of exchange rates.

Thanks for explaining

I was looking at teh 800, but I prefer the look of the front of the 700 without the door (which is supposed to be a bit flimsy) and have no real use for the hot swaps

Definately now leaning towards the 700 with a custom window me thinks :D

I would do the same, but knowing me, Id screw up the window.

Im still gonna get the 800D from up the warehouse when I can afford it. Even though I could get my stuff possibly cheaper else where, I still prefer overclocker's since Its I live local!

could anyone recommend some good case fans for it?

how much does it cost to get a pro do a window for you?
cos i'd have to fork out on a dremel + acrylic and try my hand at modding steel at that:(

Hi, i know this thread is two months old but i want my 700d side panel modded, is their anyone who could send me in the right direction? Or where i can buy an 800D side panel, thanks guys!
