Dad had a bit of bumper (some plastic bit under the fog light) break and sprayed it for his Focus. The car is grey with sparkly bits in and even though he did it himself (he is crap at DIY) I was pleasantly suprised with the results.
I would do what Scrutinize said. Don't get any paint from anywhere except the Manufacturer though in case it isn't a perfect match,
I am currently doing all the bodywork repairs and touch-ups on my Astra with help from the mad scientist.
1x door ding and keyed scratch on near side front door
1x door ding and keyed scratch on near side rear door
Paint on near side rear arch coming off where it had a smart repair done before I bought the car in 2008
Dent on rear bumper and vertical paint scratches (probably a bollard) below off side rear light (done before I bought car)
Scrape and small dent on off side rear arch and bumper
1xding on off side rear door
A body shop quoted me £400 cash to do this which to be honest is pretty good but 1/3 the value of the car lol. My car is Black Sapphire so not overly easy to match but probably better than silver.
I did try earlier in the year with Halfords paint but this really didn’t match at all despite being the’ right colour’ and I went through 2x400ml cans before giving up. Last week I got the Vauxhall kit from my dealer and even though it was only 150ml of paint (included a can of laquer too) I managed to cover all of the areas with 3 coats.
Unfortunately, I hadn’t been able to fully remove the Halfords paint in all areas so it wasn’t quite a perfect match. Where I was spraying onto existing paint and not Halfords it was almost perfect. So rather than a hash job and using some quality nail varnish remover I stripped all the new vauxhall and old Halfords paint off. It didn’t take any of the original Vauxhall paint off which is good.
I have now gone to town on this as I can see all the damage properly and filled all the little dings with holts filler putty, damn that stuff dries quick (about 15 secs on a thin layer) and will re-spray in a weekend or two.
