Cougar immersa pro headset 7.1 - Fault, please help

Me and a mate just bought a pair each (from here). We seem to be having issues with the mic's

His mic only works in the off position, i.e. the light is off, when the website says its on, then the light is on.

Mine just doesn't work at all. I get a little bit of pick up, when switching the dial switch between on and off. I've watched a few USB mic windows 10 setups and it looks like I'm doing everything right.

Can these really be that bad that two are faulty?

Is it that mic isn't giving any sound?
Check application permissions.
One of the latest Wintoys 10 updates has caused problem for some people because of those settings changing.

The new windows update broke all of my sound stuff. I had to reinstall to fix it, so you could give that a try.

Thanks guys, I've sent it back. I tried it on a Windows 7 laptop and it did the same, nothing.
