Could a faulty processor cause memtest to fail?

Ive been struggle with blue screens for months now and at first i thought it was faulty memory. The reason being memtest kept on failing so i bought some new modules which worked for a short time and then my pc started with the blue screens again, continually reporting the memory controller as the problem. I thought there was no way i got another bad batch or memory. Next step was to get a new motherboard if the memory controller was playing up. But now ive installed a new mobo and ive been hit 3 times now with blue screens and memtest is going nuts with hundreds of faults. Now im starting to look at the processor. Is it at all possible that the processor could cause memtest to fail and give me incorrect results and also be the root of my blue screens? Either that or is it a possibilty that the old motherboard has damaged my RAM somehow. All parts are running on their stock speeds.

Ive only 3 componants left to swap until everything is brand new. CPU, video card and power supply.

Im at my wits end with this machine now. All i seem to do is throw money at it and im getting nowhere.

Have you got the memory running at the correct voltage?

No specs listed but some ram needs an extra notch or two over standard ram.

The answer is yes but you should also get errors in other stability tests that are tailored specifically for the CPU.

Do you have very large speakers or other magnetic devices near an open case per chance?

Im running a q6600 in a Maximus II Formula with 2x4GB of Corsair Dominator 8500 RAM. Ive tried tweaking the the voltage manually and also used only two modules at a time but still no joy. I have exactly the same problem that i did before with my old mobo and old RAM modules which is why im thinking maybe my newer corsairs have been damaged by the old motherboard or the processor is playing up. Very confusing.

Is damage to RAM common with motherboards? Its not something ive dealt with before. I need to decided this weekend whether to get a new CPU or new RAM. Maybe even both but id love to have a healthy sytem for the Christmas holidays.

Edit: No, my machine is clear from any magnetic devices. I have also tried some CPU stability tests (OCCT) and sometimes the pc dies completely or it finishes fine. Very hit and miss. I had it running all night on 'infinite' for about 10 hours with no problems but kept it running anyway when i left for work. When i got home from work my pc had blue screened. But the pc can be on for only half an hour doing nothing and it will die on me. Its always the same pattern though, apps and services starting failing one by one until eventually my machine falls to its knees and reboots with a blue screen.
