Just wondering if anyone in here knows how much difference there would be between a 2 bedroom house and a 3 bedroom house with regards to council tax. Not looking for bang on accurate figures, just wondering how much roughly is added per extra room :)

Cheers in advance

ah fair enough, you guys are stars :) I was under the impression the more people that lived at an address the more you paid. Cheers again.

No they tried that... it was called the poll tax. And we all know what happened there. TBH that was the farer system by far but the masses didnt agree so now you pay depending on the value of your house. Fine untill a few years back when house prices started going stupidly high but your income didnt follow!

No so though, Bands are allocated according to the value of your property on the open market as at 1 April 1991, assuming that it was sold in vacant possession and also assuming that it was in a reasonable state of repair. Properties that did not exist or which have been altered since 1 April 1991 are also assessed as though they were in existence on that date.

I think there are moves afoot to re-assess the values of post '91 prpoerties. Cue mahoosive prices hikes on the horizon.

Makes no difference as it goes on the value that your house was worth in april 2003 , not current worth.

You do get 25% discount if only 1 council tax paying person lives in a property. Useful to know if you live alone or with a partner who's a student or similar..
