Well the replacement x1900xt that ocuk sent me is installed and working sweetly, having just run 3dmark 06 and 05 i'm not sure what score i should be expecting to get for my system, can anyone comment if this is good or not??

3dmark 06 = 5542
3dmark 05 = 9770

Can you reccomend anything to do to improve these scores other than overclocking, i'm not quite ready to do that. I've got the latest catalyst drivers, and the newest drivers for motherboard.

Also, my dvd writer is showing up as a DVD-RAM?? what is a dvd-ram, never heard of it. I'm trying to burn all my photographs to a dvd using a dvd-rw, but it's saying the disc is full, if i try to erase it i'm given an error saying that it couldn't finish the wipe? Any ideas?

also, can anyone reccommend a program to check out all my temps, preferably free please!

With regards to the results, have a look at the Online Result Browser on Futuremark.com to compare them to other systems like yours. They look fine for stock settings to me though.

DVD-RAM is a type of DVD format which your drive supports, so that's nothing to worry about. I'm not sure what's up with not being able to burn the photos though. Maybe you could try posting in the optical storage forum.

As for the temps, I use Speedfan from http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php . It's really good and free too :)

Hope this helps

DVD RAM is the format that a commercial DVD player uses, like the one beneath your TV in the front room. As for the + & - rubbish, I know they're different formats but other than that I don't think they do anything differntly to one another!
