I really like the first shot, however the second shot does nothing for me, I don't think the moon in the background adds anything to the picture really, and the shot could have been composed to include the whole tree in the foreground, or something else perhaps. The first picture, I don't think you could do anything to improve, it's a great picture :)

I like the first one. Yay for godrays \o/

I agree about the second one though, i see what you've tried to do, but composing it with the whole of the tree in the foreground would probably have worked better.

WOW. The first one is pretty stunning. Whereabouts did you take that? That pic reeks of a cracking atmosphere.

Pet Semetary i reckon

btw.... awesome shot.

Hey thanks for the comments :) The first one is also my favourite, but I liked the second in a sort of abstract minimalistic way.

I took it in a little village in southern Spain, near Ronda. A woman was burning a heap of leaves on the ground just outside her house and I took a few shots of the rays that appeared when the smoke moved in the right direction.

That one was one of the last shots I took, using a tripod and a 6-stop ND filter to get a slow exposure (3.2 sec) even in broad daylight.

Love those filters :) The hand held shots were ok, but this one had that extra mood.

Lo there

The first shot is very nice indeed. The exposure seems to be spot on, as the contrast and brightness is excellent. It must have been a very calm day, as that long an exposure would normally show the slightest movement in the trees. Next time, may i suggest posting a slightly larger image?

Also, Id be very interested to see what a non B&W shot of the same scene looks like... I take it that shot was taken in colour and converted to black and white?

The second shot, I like this shot but im not totally sure why... Sorry i cant be more specific. You have dust on your sensor btw :)

Same here again... first is superb. Maybe I'm being super-over-critical but I would have burnt in the leaves in the foreground just a wee bit to make them a bit less grey. :)

Hey forgive me if this is an obvious question but why did you want the 3.2 second exposure?

Also any chance of a non-B/W version?

Love the pic though mate!
