Soo soo weird.

Ordered my favourite Pizza, was soo excited as not wanted to eat much since I came down with it last week.

First bite, I **** you not, there was nothing there, just nothing.

Anything acidic and you can "feel" it, if that makes sense, but not taste it. Salt offers something but does not taste like salt.

Tried drinking vinegar, you can feel it, but cannot recognise it as vinegar if that makes sense.

Tomato juice and Worcester sauce offers something.

May as well eat pot noodles for the next few weeks :)

Brother recently had Covid with loss of taste. Said it was very unpleasant. His taste is now about 80% back after about a month.

Having had covid last December and loosing my taste and smell, I can agree it is odd, spicy still triggers pain receptors even if it doesn't taste like anything.

Nearly a year later and in my case smell and taste is still not what it was, but it is strange as I can't put my finger on what's now different I just know it is, some smells seem normal, yet other times someone will ask if I can smell what ever scent is wafting around and I cannot.

Everyone else I've know who has had covid, has had their senses return to normal. Guess I was the unlucky one, I didn't end up in hospital so I'n not going to grumble.

And get well soon

Thank you.

It is extremely unpleasant, tried a Jacket potato earlier, was like eating sawdust, is the only way I can describe it.

I lost mine due to covid a couple of weeks ago. Thankfully it's 75% back, but it's a bit on and off.

Covid flattened me, aches, pains, shortness of breath, burning eyes(??!), no energy... but the worst part was the lack of smell and taste, a very odd sensation, or lack of. I could sense/feel salt but no flavour.

Hope yours comes back soon!

Yeah it's crap, had it over Easter time and ate a whole clove of garlic with not a hint of taste.

3 weeks off work (final week assisting from home) and still feeling the fatigue now

All of what you said sums up my experience.

I got the burning eyes too and random aches and pains.

I actually said earlier... "Not being able to taste is in some ways worse than the Covid itself", just the weirdest thing you take for granted but never think of loosing.

Good to hear your on the mend.

I absolutely despise salad, but if I ever get covid and lose my taste I think I will try it purely for the fact I will be able to lose **** loads of weight on chicken salads :D

I had a cold/flu in September and i lost my sense of taste for a week or so, as someone else said you do take it for granted so it wasn't pleasant.
It could have been covid but a lateral flow said no but who knows..

I run a half marathon (badly) in Milton Keynes, after we went to this Turkish restaurant place, huge portion of grilled meats, salad, dips, bulgar etc, and I was starving.

Had a cold, couldn't taste a thing, was gutted.
