CR2 to DNG

Hi all,

As you might have read in my previous posts, i recently become the proud owner of a Canon 40D.

Having taken a few snaps i wanted to have a play with them in photoshop - of which i have version CS2. Unfortunatly CS2 is not compatable with the raw files produced by the 40D (Gee i wonder why ). Adobe do however provide a free CR2 to DNG converter.

My question is, will i lose any quality/encounter any issues using this tool or should i just be thinking about purchasing lightroom or somesuch?

Hmm i thought so. Lightroom would cut down on the fiddling i have to do and therefore probably spur me on to produce more finished work.

CS2 does indeed use Adobe Camera raw, but only up to version 3.7, which is not compatable with the 40D. Predictably the newer versions are only compatable with CS3.
