Hello,

I have created both a video and an audio track:

Video in uncompressed AVI at 1920*1080

Audio in uncompressed 32bit (int) 48khz 5.1 Wave file

Both can be re-exported into a variety of formats.

Now how do I go about creating a single video file with 5.1 support? Everything I try gets me exactly what I want, but in 2.0 stereo.

I don't want a DVD/Bluray or anything other than a single file.

I have installed and removed so many things now I just thought I would ask.

So any ideas?

Ok eventually figured it out for anyone coming across this thread.

First off export your audio as 6 indipendent mono files and import them into this: http://code.google.com/p/wavtoac3encoder/

That will spit out an AC3 file.

Now re-export your video as H264 or whatever flavour you like and then mux them together into an MKV with this: http://www.bunkus.org/videotools/mkvtoolnix/

All plays back in VLC without an issue.
