Is this still a good sound card, for £15...


From a particular place? -Which I will not name as I am staying in the rules.



Good for gaming etc...? Is it a lot better than onboard sound also, will speed up games as the mobo not having to do sound aswell?

This is one aspect I wouldn't count on too much. Take it as gravy, but not as a reason to buy the card. That said, £15 is a good price for the A2ZS, it does bring benefits in features, which IMO is more significant to the performance brought from lower CPU usage. If a game plays like a slideshow on your PC, changing the sound card won't make a difference. Likewise, if it runs fine, then you are not going to notice the slight frame rate increase (if any).

That's true, you're not going to transform your framerates with a new soundcard, but IMO the difference is significant enough to be worth £15. Creative CPU usage is way lower than other cards/onboard sound. We're talking around 5-7% cpu usage difference. That could be the difference between having a 3.0 and 3.2 GHz CPU.
