I just got this card, after installing it, windows dont seem to detect the hardware. I disabled the on-board sound prior to new installation, so there is no problem there. Since the card was OEM i dont have any instructions.

Also i see a black power connector on the card, do i need to feed it power? If so, which cable do i need.

Thanks

It shouldnt need any power.

Have you tried a different PCI slot?

Also try the latest drivers from the creative website :)

Thanks, Havent tried it yet, kinda going to b a major problem since my 8800 is blocking it. Kinda beats the point of the drivers since my hardware is not detected. The cd which came with it doesnt even detect the sound card.

Well got it to work in the other PCI slot, kinda glad it worked but slightly worried about my other PCI slot. Anyway thanks guys.

Yes, Tim, Its a massive improvement over the standard on board sound. I never really understood the point of buying a sound card since the on board sound really did a good job but lately had much trouble with sound so had to buy a new card. So far im amazed at how much this new upgrade offers, its a bargain great hardware. Go for it!!!

I agree with DewiCymru.

I have a number of various Creative cards and many of them have some or other issue where they are pretty much "Invisible" to its own drivers.

9 out of 10 times a slot change will do it, and this has nothign to do with the slot itself but rather some conflict with some other card in another slot.

Hey, FWIW in one of my PCs, I have an IDE Card, a TV Card and a SBAudigy1 and Ideally , I wanted the TV Card at the bottom because of the thick Coax coming from it and the Audio at the top ( Middle for the ID Eas the cables were coming from that ) but I had to have the TV in the middle and the IDE at the top... Nothign else would work, but as they are there, its flawless... Funny but there you go.
