Hi Guys,

I have a Creative X-Fi Gamer soundcard on my system, I also run Vista 64bit. I have a problem where some mp3s seem to be going down in volume for split seconds throughout the track, as if it was bad radio signal in a car or something you know? This happens both on my headset and speakers, it happens to some mp3s not all of them. Anyone else encountered this problem?

Smart volume, it is a compressor or normalizer that tries to keep the volumes of various audio sources equal. It does alter the original recording so it may or may not be a desired option. It can be useful depending upon what audio is being played, or if two audio sources are being played at once.

I wonder if you have Pressed the "Audio Clean Up" button on the Console by mistake, it would remove any Hiss or Clicks on tracks that are bit iffy.

Also check for Crossfading and Beatmatched settings.

I guess you have latest drivers/apps from a few weeks ago ? (not auto update, look at list manually and build # and dates).
