creative zen stone transfer speeds

just picked one of these up today off the highstreet. got the the 2gb model for 29.99 and am very happy with the way it works and the sound quality (using some other headphones

)

but the transfer speeds are killing me. 700-800kb/s :eek:

i have no problems copying other files with vista - my old archos hdd player averaged 5mb/s and i can get 30mb/s copying to my external hard drive so i don't think you can blame my OS. is this a limitation of the player? tis a bit sucky if it is.....

just did a quick test copying files from the player to my pc and was getting well over 5mb/s. so the problem is only copying TO the player. is this a generic problem with all flash memory based players or just this one.... (i've never had one before)?? :confused:

try some other USB ports.

I know when I was putting files on my mates MP3 player(I don't own one) the top pair of ports on the motherboard were slower then the lower pair.

Crap memory will write at low speeds, but even the worst chips are still ~3.5Mb/s.

i've tried different ports and no difference. it must be really crap memory on board these things. good job the capacity is so small - but even so, it still takes roughly 40 minutes to fill it up. pathetic.....
