Crimson Desert - Not an MMORPG…anymore

Still can't believe that no one in the tubes I've watched has mentioned it, not to mention why didn't any of the devs/testers say anything about it?

It looks so wierd and unrealistic.
Yeah its strange to me that nobody has mentioned it, it was literally the first thing I noticed, characters hair barely moving in the wind, flags and banners and other pieces of cloth barely moving in the wind, but 2ft away the branches of the trees and the bushes are leaping about like hurricane Katrina is on them.

The Witcher comparisons are wild, like what about this developers track history makes you think this game‘s gonna have anywhere near the quality of writing that the Witcher had.

What has happened is further proof that something with fancy graphics or art style catches people’s attention regardless how jank the rest of it looks.
We can dream.

Also watch the DF video and drooling over the lighting. Its good, but what good is it if the rest is not very good to go with it.

The characters looked bland and from 10-15 years ago or something.

As I said I hope they get it right. But not holding my breath.
Things looks really shiny to me too, I'm not sure that's particularly realistic. However, overall it does look quite impressive despite the flaws.

Sounds very much like a Breath of the Wild / Elden Ring type experience, pretty much go anywhere and do what you want from the get go, with the narrative taking aback burner to serve as a means to introduce you to new areas rather than it being a big story focused experience.

Lots of cool little features and ways to interact with the world. It looks great, runs great but there are bugs of varying levels of severity. Some minor, some requiring reloads to resolve, others potentially soft locking certain quests/activities that will need fixing prior to launch.

I think for me, this is looking very good, albeit something I might actually just delay on at launch and see how things turn out in terms of bugs/stability. Might be one of them games where everybody has a different experience, some flawless, others have a nightmare with it.

Some more

TLDR anyone?

They want £40+ at the moment so unless it is a 10/10 I won't be paying that. But will let my buddy @jonneymendoza do some beta testing for me and I get it half price in 6 months :p

If the game is as being described it could potentially be riddled with bugs. Especially if the devs are more like Bethesda rather than Nintendo

This is why this one is a wait and see when it releases.

I'll play it simply because it's pushes some technical boundaries but could be one to wait a bit for bugs and price drop.

I also find the theming a little strange as it mixes steam punk/fantasy/futurism in one package.

Like 99.99% of games these days, better to wait for it to be patched, and get it when it's cheaper, ie, in about a year or two.

So you rather buy a 2hour single player game then a 30-60h single player game for £40+ bucks?

There is a difference Jonney. One is a childhood franchise that holds a special place. The other a new IP I have never heard of until a few weeks ago.

And 2 hour? I have 20+ hours already since it was released on Friday.

Yeh, but it's your tenth replay, so two hours sounds about right! :p

I am estimating 30 hours on steam clock by the time I am finished second playthrough.

Might later do a third but this time play on easy mode with one of those unlimited guns for fun. Maybe if I have enough points I will unlock the rocket launcher :D

I don’t know where this is from as haven’t caught up yet on everything but this is interesting.

It was also here that Crimson Desert's vast size became abundantly clear. I opened my menu to be greeted by a knowledge library.

There were precisely 2,921 pieces of knowledge to be found, with a library that could be filled by finding crafting recipes, speaking to residents, and generally exploring the world. It teased 573 different territories, 110 factions, 355 crafting manuals, and 29 mounts. This is all alongside the bounties, side quests, of which there were 63 in the first town, and the main story. Crimson Desert is a big game.

Plus I can give jonney a hard time like he gave me in the resident evil thread :p
