Crisis with Crysis

Tbh it's just that level, lots random performance issues and bugs in that level. I remember playing it through, killing the boss and watching it start to explode, normally you then have to run to the end of the deck and jump on the transport, however it was just flying around underneath the boss for ages before it finally froze in mid air, the game then autosaved and the boss disappeared from above me and started to rise out of the water again with the dramatic music, the boss then froze, disappeared and I got blue screen

I started the level again but I kept falling through ship randomly so I called it a day.

I think we define "playing" in a different way. For a game like Crysis, playing at 800x600 with no aa or af is not "playing" it. Crysis was intended to stress PCs, so it needs a beasty machine. I had an 8800 and I couldn't play it maxed out. I doubt you people can lol

Read my post again. I didn't say that was his problem. I merely made a statement.

To the OP, good luck. Hopefully it is a corrupted save file...

disable streaming using e_stream=0 i think, also do other optimizing things like precache levels, etc. results in longer load times but less stuttering. there are tons of commands that aren't used in the normal settings that boost framerate, thats why i always recommend going custom. do a bit of searching on incrysis forum, there is a sticky over there that has some useful information like memory usage using certain settings, etc. could also download the CVAR (command variables) list and experiment! :)

Edit: also noticed that patch 1.1 greatly improved my performance in the snow levels and onward, when i first played the game (not long after release) it was stuttery as hell through those parts, with the carrier being borderline unplayable, but the patch made it much smoother!

i had a problem with that level [crunching on the gpu btw lol]

my fix was to go to a save just before the door of the flight deck, if it failed at some point i could just go back to that save and it would run fine [or at least fail at a different point] then just save over zealously

was with an ati 5850 and 5870

I just ran a few benchmarks with DX9 and DX10, and saw a marginal difference (5%-ish). I loaded that last level, and the difference is colossal - in DX10, it's unplayably jerky with maximum settings + mods, but in DX9, smooth as silk.

I also had installed the cfg files found here: Very High Settings in DX9 to ensure I was getting as close to Dx10 settings as possible. Since Very High is greyed out in Dx9 Crysis, this hack changes Low to medium, Medium to High, and High to Very High.
