Heaven benchmark

Not too shabby!

Interesting results. Seems the 7850 with a decent overclock is a reasonable replacement for dual 5850s. I am considering a move away from dual cards to a single card but I had thought a 7950 / 670 was the minimum card to see a marked improvement. I guess that is still correct, but the 7850 is a budget alternative albeit a slight downgrade in some respects.

This is only the heaven benchmark, the 5850's came out before tesselation was even thought of. In day to day games, the 5850 will be faster than the 7850, unless vram limited of course.

HD 5000 series was terrible for tessellation performance, so the 7850 is going to look a lot better when tessellation is enabled.

Indeed, however selling them when I did meant I only paid £20 for my 7850, which gives me scope to add another 7850 in the future when the drop in price and I need more oompf ;)

The VTX will handle a small volt bump fine, should get you up to 1150 core at least (33% OC). Well worth doing ;) And should only add a couple of degrees to your load temps.
