Crossfire support and SLi Ready...

Hi there.

I have been looking at a few motherboards and have noticed that some say they support SLi and others saying that they support Crossfire.

Does this mean that if you buy a Crossfire support mobo that I would not be able to run 2 NVidia cards in SLi on that motherboard? If that is the case is there an add on card or controller that would need to be purchased in order to run SLi on a Crossfire ready mobo?

Sorry for the noobie question but I am just starting to get back into this again.

Thx in advance....

Ahh, thx for clearing that up for me. Would have made my life so much easier if the opposite had been true :/

Oh well, back to pulling my hair while trying to choose a motherboard :)

Thx again.

I believe, although don't quote me on this, it was possible to run 2 nVidia cards in SLi on some Intel motherboards (only certified to support Crossfire) using hacked drivers. I can't remember if it's true or not, but i just thought i'd say.

Yes, if i remember a few people did it, including easyrider and WJA96 :)

The drivers used tho are old now and wont support 8 series cards

Yeah, that's what i figured. It's a pitty, really; the stability and memory controller on an Intel motherboard coupled with SLi support would be an awesome combination.
