I'm looking to move on to Vista at some point and also want to take advantage of the low memory prices.

Tempted to go for this ram:- Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-8500C5 1066MHz Dual and buy another 2GB in a month or 2, anyone know of any reason for me not to go for this ?

I will be changing CPU & GFX over the coming months also..

depends what you want but the PC-6400 stuff is cheaper and will clock like a demon also. I have 2 gigs of the PC6400 stuff and it will do 525mhz @ 5-5-5-15 when i pushed it.

Personally i would get the PC-6400 as it's about £20 cheaper.

Hi,
I had 2 x 1G crucial ballicks PC2-8500C5 ram myself it ran pretty sweet ( 1033 @ 4-4-4-12)
on my Gigabyte P35C_DS3R mobo , I then thought lets get another 2G to bring me up to 4G's , big mistake.

Even at 800Mhz with relaxed timings it errored in memtest , I tried all sorts of adjustments but to no avail ( tried ram on 2 other systems another giga p35c and a asus p5w dh deluxe ) neither worked right at all.

Yesterday I got 4G of http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-022-GS&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=817

Runs sweet and faster than the crucial at slacker timings

5300 mixed with 6400...spec in sig @ 2.2v

They get burning hot without any airflow...I have a 92mm fan directed on them attached to my HR-05 and they stay very cool
