Hi Guys
ok .i cant decide on which memory to get .should i go for

OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-6400 CL 4-4-4-15
£117.49 inc VAT)

or

Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-5300C3 CAS 3-3-3-12
£140.99 inc VAT

not picked the board or cpu out yet .but i think i would be going with maybe a
Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3 (Socket 775 or a Asus P5N-E SLi nForce 650

with a Intel Core 2 DUO E4300 or a Intel Core 2 DUO E6300 so what would you guys go for .

With an e4300 I would go for the OCZ as it has a x9 multiplier.

The Crucial Ballistix would probably suit the e6300 more with its x7 multiplier.

Hi
which do you think would give the better overclock
The Crucial Ballistix would probably clock better.

With an e4300 you don't really need to clock the ram high cos of its x9 multiplier.

With an e6300 you will need to clock the ram because of its low x7 multiplier.

e430, get the Ballistix PC5300 as you can run 3-3-3-12 with a 333FSB x the 9 multi to get 3GHz easy with tight mem timings.

e6300, get the OCZ PC6400 as that runs 4-4-4-15 at 400FSB x 7 multi to get 2.8GHz easy.

Out of the two, get the Ballistix, e4300 and P5N-E for the higher albeit safer overclock.

Yup, get the Geil PC5300 ideally. Just over £105 atm.

I'm just about to order the E4300, P5N-E and Geil 2GB PC5300 right now on Saturday delivery so I can play with it over the weekend. £320 there about, so i'm hoping with slack timings I can hit 3.2GHz and get 10Mhz for every £1. ;)

Yes, because it's manufactured to cater for the overclocker.

I quickly did a search and found this for ya.

Ballistix PC5300 Performance Review

As you can see it's crappin' out at 410FSB, so that only gives your E6300 400ish x 7 = 2.8GHz. edit: all depends on timings, the RAM seems to do 425 (850) fine on 4-4-4-12.

If you want a E6300 you really need RAM that can go higher than 450FSB to be honest, so PC6400 is probably more ideal as well as the DS3 as it's a proven mobo for the E6300.

IF you want the E4300 though, get what I got as aforementioned in my above post.

Thanks for the link Kaiju .i might have this wrong but does the E4300 run a lot hotter than the E6300
I'm trying to find that out now, as I really don't want to get another cooler.

As for the above comment about the RAM crappin' out at 410FSB, that's wrong. :o

I'm thinking E6300, Geil PC6400 and P5B Deluxe as the NB and SB on the P5N need cooling. :D

Still no idea about how cool the E6300 and E4300 are in comparison.

Haha, another road block it seems. I really want to order this stuff before midday today. Dammit. :D

My budget is 10MHz for every £1, so if I can get 3.6GHz from £360 i'm all for it. At the moment though, only the E4300, Geil PC5300 and P5N-E @ £300 look the part for a 3-3.2GHz clock and my rather sexy budgeting options.
