Crucial M4 128GB £89.99 on Deal of the Day!

Hmmm I'm quite tempted by this, any chance the price of the m4 dropping so fast recently is to do with the new marvell controller being launched? m5 on the horizon?

I finish this year at uni in 6 weeks and going to get some ivy bridge bits and an SSD, so would be awesome to get this at this price or even a new model.

Seems a shame the vertex 4 is the only 'new' thing out at the mo, and it's not even better than the m4 in every way.

I was thinking the same. Paid £140 for mine just before Christmas and felt it was good value. This is just an absolute steal!

Yeah I didn't mention I actually have an 128GB m4 already in a Laptop (that I'm using right now) and I paid about £150 for it, got it around October last year I think.

But the price has fallen about £20-£30 since March 15th, when Marvell announced their new controller was shipping.

Bought the 64GB 2 weeks ago for £69.99 and just couldn't resist this offer. Gonna move the 64 to my laptop and use the 128 in my PC. Absolute bargain!! :D

They have been this price at other places for a week or so now, hardly deal of the day.

This!

Hmm looks like ocuk price matched the other £89 place for these.

Nice.

The price war on ssds is incredible, prices dropping all over the place for em. Think im gona wait till they get below 50 quid which by lookin at the price war seems reasonable and soon.

And this!
It might be possible. In one month we might see the 128 GB prices matching the actual 64 GB ones.

Tempted to buy, but I think I`m going to wait a bit more. :)

Although I have just purchased a 128GB Samsung 830 for my main machine I am seriously tempted to buy one of these at this price too, for my media pc, which is booting off a Seagate drive that's at least 5 years old. Would give it a really nice performance boost.

Infact I'm not going to think I am just going to do, before they are all gone.

Edit: Actually, no, damn it, I don't need to spend any more money. What would make much more sense is for me to buy a 256GB drive to replace the 128GB at some point in the future, and then put the 128GB unit in my media machine. I've been using 128GB SSD since 2009 and I do find I have to work at keeping within the space constraints a bit.

Do you know when its out ?

I have been interested to find out when the next lot of ssd's will come out, but specifically Marvell based since they seem to be better at read speeds and reliability.

I found this Micron roadmap http://regmedia.co.uk/2011/11/07/micron_ssd_roadmap.jpg
In this article http://www.channelregister.co.uk/2011/11/08/micron_flash_roadmap/

And Marvell released their new controller a month and a half ago, and Intel nd Micron have been testing their 20nm Flash for roughly 6 months I believe, so.........very soon? We can all hope :)
