I'd use the USB/cd method if you're having trouble with it. Try it on another motherboard port, you should install Windows and run your SATA ports in AHCI mode.

If you can't get it to update, run it on another pc

I'm guessing it wouldn't update for you because you had it on the Marvell controller. Your board has 2 Marvell Sata 6Gb/s ports and 6 Intel Sata 3Gb/s ports. If I was you I would install Intel RST and run the SSD on the Intel controller, from my experience it would be more stable, faster 4k performance and TRIM works.

erm thanks Bled, did you have one too many the night before? my post directly above yours sorta gave it away i had already done that...lol. if only i had a £1 for everytime i have done exactly the same
