Can anyone tell me (guess) if these settings are possible to give suitable framerates with what's out there at the moment?

I'd rather not go down SLI and the GX2; but i'm a bit wary if a single card can slug it out at those settings? I'm thinking 9800GTX, as the 8800GTX is discontinued where I live but i'm just not sure it will cut it.

I'm using a E4300 @ 3GHz, P5N-E, 2GB, XP, so i'm also going to be bottlenecked with SLI, but it might be worth a shot with the lower resolution (compared to 24" native reso) and AA/AF.

Oh, and I meant 16xAF in the title, of course. :D

No it's not possible, well yes it is but you may as well take screenshots and put them into powerpoint for equal performance,

Cool, ok, so even a GX2 in SLI and a 4GB Quad CPU won't handle those settings suitably?

Right, I just read some reviews on [H] and it shows the GX2 in SLI (Quad) can do 1600x1200 on high and some settings on very high. This also includes 16xAF, but no AA. The 9800GTX in SLI on the other hand can do 1600x1200 on all high settings and 16xAF, so i'm guessing 2xAA is far too intensive for current cards. Bummer!

My 8800GTX can do that at 1440x900, I think an Ultra could definitely do it at 1680x1050.

Very High or 1900x1200 is where the problems begin.

nothing today will...not even tri-sli ultras.
 My SLI 8800gtx runs crysis fine at these settings ...

Is that with 2xAA? What is the lowest FPS you're hitting?

Yeah with 2xAA. In the GPU benchmark I get min 17, average 34, max 45. Even 4xAA only takes another 2fps off the average.

In-game with no AA I get min 30, ave 38, max 46, based on a 60-second Fraps run. Didn't do a 2xAA run but I do know that it barely impacts performance at all for me.

Very High is a different matter, adding even 2xAA makes it jerky, even with the GTX's massive memory bandwidth.

Woah, 32FPS min FPS... so what settings do you run at?

Maybe a 8/9800GTX might just cut it afterall.
i finish crysis before i had a sli setup.

I use to play crysis at 1920x1200 dx10 vista 64bit at a mix of high & med settings with a single overclocked 8800gtx

The benchmark is nothing like the performance you get in-game I wish people would stop using it to show they get good frames.

Your minimum FPS will be lower in game though chaps... the benchmark is not half as stressful as the actual game performance when all the physics/AI calcs are running.

yeah, it isn't. not to mention the hit that comes with the ice...

i mean, i hit 50 or so fps with the CCC mod and no aa, on 1680x1050 in the floating level inside that cave (i used level 3 for my pc; use the mod and you'll understand)... and then i dropped to like 20 or so with AA in the ice levels... may even have been without AA...

anyways, when will people accept that you can't run crysis with 16AA/AF on high, or very high, at 1600x1200+ without good frames, unless you have a monster setup? this question has been asked over and over and over again, and it remains the same answer. either run the game at a lower resolution, or kill the fancy AA/AF, or take it out of DX10...

I found performance better in-game. You don't move as fast ingame. The GPU benchmark for me is noticeably jerky as it has to stream lots of new textures in at once, especially near the beginning as it comes down to island.

True about the physics/AI in-game, but I still get a much better min FPS ingame.
