Crysis 2 - What upgrades are you going to make?

I ran crysis and crysis warhead with my signature spec (not overclocked) at 1920 x 1080 and high settings. It ran fine and looked great with an average of mid 30's frames per second, with some slowdown in the very busy sections of the game, mostly at the end. You don't really need to do major upgrades.

Same as the previous poster. I didn't make any changes for the last game (which was a very average FPS) and I don't intend to make any for this.

Saying that though if it's anything like the last game I won't bother getting it this time no matter how nice the graphics may be.

Yup, spot on.

I can also run crysis and warhead on max, although with 4X AA and 8X adaptive anti......

Although resolution is only 1280x1024 (19" samsung LCD).

Current rig at the minute:

- Intel core i5 750
- 4GB RAM
- Samsung F3 1TB
- HIS 4850 Turbo ICEQ4 512MB

Hopefully will be upgrading sometime soon though:

- 23" Dell ultrasharp IPS monitor
- Intel 80GB SSD
- If the reviews are good for the 6970, I'll get it (HIS brand)

Although this won't just be for crysis 2, need a new monitor, mainly for blu ray films and games, this one is like 5-6 years old now and so will need a new graphics card to be able to run current and future games on max settings.

Yeah, kind of agree, especially the way most of the games that have come out in the last few months have been awful ports, not even a proper menu etc. for configuring the graphics etc. for the PC

If crytek make a really crap port, then I guess we can say that PC gaming is going to eventually die

They've already said they make no money out of the PC version and the Console is the way to go, I'm guessing Cysis 3 will be console only, I wouldnt be expecting much more than another Crysis 1 expansion with press "X" to start new game in the menu screen tbh.

It's just a matter of time till they completely stop the ports from console to PC tbh, and also with all this DRM crap etc. they really do know how to kill PC gaming and get people to start downloading illegal copies don't they.

Really hate playing FPS on consoles.

Agreed, don't know how people can do it. I have a 360 and hardly ever use it. Even more so lately. Last game I played on it was Dead Rising 2, Epic game but only played it through once. It is probably cause I get bored, with PC gaming I alt tab out a lot.

They don't make much money from PC's as pc gamers are sensible and refuse to shell out £50 for a game.

Yeah, it's just awful.

I also have the 360, but never use it tbh, last game I got was gears of war 2 I think, plus there is no way I am paying like £40-50 for a game, also trying to trade games in and you get so little for the games, like brand new, mint condition you only get like a max of £10 for the game, no matter how new it is :mad:

, also most of the games now a days are pretty crap tbh.

Its been dying for a while mate... but if what you say happens it'll be sped up a bit ^^ Hopefully Valve will come out with something great for PC Gamers... if they go in the same direction and give up on the PC Exclusives then its all "£$%

O yeah, I know that, more so the last 5-12 months, the games have been awful ports IMO, games being capped to 30FPS, crap choice of settings for the PC etc.

Yeah, I reckon it will tbh, as there that sort of company, they only care about the money.

, they are the only ones that will keep PC gaming alive (now would be the perfect time to bring out half life 3 exclusively for the PC tbh, and am sure companies will start to develop games exclusively for the PC and not port the crap from consoles once they see the sales of it and as you said if they go in the same direction then it's over for the PC gaming society sadly

Also my understanding of how it should run. The sheer amount of foliage in crysis is what brings even a really good system to its knee's due to a weird forced filtering system.

Crysis 2 should scale extremely well.

I probably won't upgrade for Crysis 2, but I will definitely upgrade for Deus Ex 3.

So, with that in mind, my upgrade for Deus Ex 3 will hopefully be sufficient for whatever Crysis 2 throws my way.

I was never that keen really on the original Crysis anyway, but I will admit that I find the new locations of Crysis 2 more interesting.
