Apologies if this is a repost, but cant seem to find a specific thread for it:

If you own Crysis, you have GOT to try this - http://www.incrysis.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=18999

Basically, its an 80+ man hour time custom config for Crysis, and basically this is what Crysis *SHOULD* have been released as!

Higher detail, bump mapping, massively richer colour depth, far more FPS and much smoother gameplay, even on my somewhat antiquated rig.

Give it a blast, it actually means you need night vision at night now

Cant recomment this enough..... bad bad FAIL on EA/Crytek for not releasing their long-anticipated baby like this!

i can't download this? filefront is all borked.

<Edit> found a mirror...

do you need the 1.1 patch for this to work?

First rule of physics: Something can't be made out of nothing.
First rule of sense: You can't vastly improve FPS without downgrading graphics.

I'm downloading the 1.1 patch before I install this. If it actually does what it says then the author is in fact the devil

Review:

1. it looks really really good. it looks like the original trailers said it would
2. claims of higher framerates are entirely fallacious. my framerate has dropped like a stone.

im playing with this config playing on level 4 level 5 for future hardware hdr and evrything looks amazing bit less fps do but if you play level 3 you can get increase in fps and stunning visuals to ;)

Like most other configs, they remove edge blur so there's a lot of jaggies which I hate :(

one setting might improve visual appearance of the game by 20% but take a 30% framerate hit, another setting might give a 15% improvement to how it looks but only a 2% framerate hit, which might let you enable another setting that gives another 15% boost for 10% framerate cost, which gives a better appearance for less of a framerate hit.

Its all about balance, some options do barely anything but takes a lot of performance to do.

At the end of the day better shadows for every blade of grass and leaf will take a lot of power and not realistically give a great overall effect that you'll notice. where as much higher quality textures can give you a vastly improved look for little performance cost if your card has the memory capacity and the bandwidth to make the extra size not really matter.

This would be a game with a LOT of leeway for balancing what settings to run with and frankly Crytek should have come up with better settings and probably focused less on fancy effects and more on the basics.

For instance setting shaders to high isn't changing one setting to high, its probably changing 20 separate things that they've managed to bundle all into one user setting. THey should have made medium and high much better for performance and left off some of the crazy performance sapping effects, leave them for very high setting and 2 years down the line.

I tried the older CCC pack and it did run faster but looked poor compaired to ultra settings.

The main thing i noticed that it did was to add diffuse rays to high setting but decrease draw distance a lot. Objects like rocks would appear from nowhere

OK OK, I follow the physics rules I admit - I did find the odd spot near the back end of Onslaught where it creaked up badly, when it did some physics processing on rocks falling, but then it smoothed out again.

And no, I havent benched with/without this mod, just seems so much better compared to an unmodified version, that I cant see an argument for *NOT* trying it, and you can always uninstall it if you dont like it.

I'd rather use their config than spend my time making/testing my own.... more time to play the darn game!! The zero-G parts and snow sections run like a dream compared to vanilla for me - hope it works as good for some other people.

Alright just tested this out. The FPS claims are indeed shenanigans. There's a few different settings. Level 5 is the highest, with full on physics, motion blur effects and 3D terrain. Level 4 has the god rays effect and 3D terrain still. It runs about the same all High settings on my PC, except the FPS fluctuates a lot more. Both modes make the game a lot more colourful, which would be nice if it wasn't ruined by the lack of edge blurring. I think I'll keep this installed, but does anyone know how to re-enable the edge blur?
Btw, is it just me or is the AI more active? Or is that just the 1.1 patch in action?

In your system or autoexec.cfg you need to have the line
r_useedgeaa = 1 (or 2)

it's probably 0 at the mo

I tried the config. Thought it looked crap. Reverted back to my own config.

Just installed this and does seem good on setting 4. setting 3 lacked a bit of in field depth and the colours were to vibrant for any realism to be shown. however the setting 4 created a very nice atmostphere and it allowed me to put 4xAA on at 1680x1050.

i dont mind playing at 24fps+, however does anyone get some glitches with the ocean?

Installed it a few days ago, gives me glitches all over the show, random blue boxes popping up on foliage in dx9 mode. dx10 mode just gives me a weird shimmering effect on foliage and in the sky.
